Historic Moments II

beijing olympics 2008 thumb Historic Moments IIThis Friday will be another historic moment in the history of International Student Ministry because we will collaborate with Berkeley Chinese Students and Scholars Association (BCSSA) to co-host the broadcast of Olympics 2008 that is happening in China. Right after our Friday Bible Study, we will be watching the re-run of the event aired by NBC 11 at 7:30pm. And the Olympics 2008 is definitely a historic moment for China, as it hosts this international event for the first time. It’s all very exciting. And I look forward to all the exciting sports events in the days ahead. My favorite sports are women’s volleyball, ping pong, and soccer (football). What are yours?

That was a most awesome opening ceremony. We also had some people from Gracepoint Berkeley join us–the VSM group, or Visiting Scholars Ministry.

Looking forward to Kobe play some serious ball!

I must admit that I was pretty blown away by the ceremony. One part that touched me was the show about how the environment would affect the children in China and how China is committed to tackle the problem. And of course, when I saw Li Lin did the “crouching tiger and hidden dragon” air walk to light the fire on the Olympics tower, I was almost moved to tears. On to the competitions…

It was great to be celebrating the China Beijing Olympics, especially with many of our new Chinese friends that we just met as well as with our old-time ISM Chinese members and friends. The ceremony was very impressive and China has indeed made a grand entrance. And indeed it is a historic moment not only for China, but also for International Student Ministry as we collaborate with other chinese graduate student groups. Well looking forward to the games…
