Teaching based on 1 Timothy 1:12-17 and Ephesians 3:7-13, Chul discusses how Christians should respond to “pressure” in Christian life.  Why do some people view Christian life as laborious and tiresome?  What happens when God becomes the center the of our lives?  How does our personal appreciation for the Gospel and our testimony affect the way that we view service to God?

Teaching from 2 Thessalonians 1, Chul talked about the important topic of how faith and love are meant to grow because Christian life is about relationships and in relationships things grow.  He talked about the reasons why some people don’t grow and some do and provided some practical guidelines for how we can grow in our faith and love.

This Friday, we will be meeting in Alameda for dinner and bible study.  Afterward, we will split up for various work nights and Multiply your Talent sessions.  Rides will be provided from Barrows Hall at 6:30.

Howard and Wesley returned from Honduras this week and they provided a mission report of their trip with BMDMI (Baptist Medical & Dental Mission International) and all that they experienced on this trip.  Afterwards, Lauren gave a touching testimonial bible study of her trip to Central Asia and how it is with sacrifice and love that the valleys of bitterness in our lives can turn into places of springs (Psalm 84:6).

In her farewell message before she joins a church planting team to Minnesota, Mia draws from Matthew 6:25-34 and teaches us how to biblically address the worries and experience Christian growth in our lives.  How do we grow in our Christian lives?  It’s through commitment and community, as shown through testimonies from Mia’s own life.

Because of the Yosemite Trip, there will be no IGSM Friday Forum this week.

We will have our IGSM Friday Forum this Friday (5/21) at 6:30pm at the YWCA. Since everybody is going to be done with finals, this week’s dinner will be a potluck. Please email Kate (katechow07 at gmail) with what you plan to bring. Afterwards, we will have a farewell for Mia, who will be leaving to help start a church at the University of Minnesota. Come join us to hear the Bible together and then to wish Mia farewell.

Hope everybody is studying hard.  Friday Forum for this week will be held at the YWCA (2600 Bancroft Way) at 6:30pm. As usual we will start with dinner. Afterwards, we will have a Bible Study on Romans 8:1-17, titled “Two Laws”. See you there.

Also there is no IGSM Sunday Gathering on 5/9. Remember to call your moms on Sunday.

In final message of “The Cross of Christ” series, Chul Kim discusses the internal conflict we experience in life between our wishes and desires, and desires and God’s law.  How do we overcome out unbelief in God?  What lessons of faith can we learn from the response of the father of a boy?

This Friday, we will conclude the bible study series on the Cross of Christ titled “Help My Unbelief” (Mark 9:1-29, Romans 7:21-8:2).  We will be meeting at the YWCA building at 2600 Bancroft Way, where we usually meet on Sunday afternoons.  Afterwards, we will have a farewell celebration for Kevin and Gina Han before their move to Davis.
