English Class – Effective Communication for Success

IGSM 6-Week English Class
“Effective Communication for Success”

Date: Six Sundays (8/14, 8/21, 8/28, 9/4, 9/11, 9/18)
Time: 10 am-12 pm
Place: 2518 Durant Ave. Berkeley, CA 94704 (2nd floor of Pepe’s Pizza Restarant)
Instructors: Certified ESL teachers and UCB graduate students (native speakers)

This 2-Part intensive English class is designed to help international students, post docs & visiting scholars improve communication skills needed for graduate level research, coursework and presentations as well as English conversation. The class will focus on learning the sounds, stresses and intonations of English pronunciation (Part 1) as well as commonly used American Idioms (Part 2). All international students (graduate and undergraduate), post docs and visiting scholars are welcome!

“Effective Communication for Success” has been a well-attended English class for the past 7 years with an enrollment of about 60-80 students and 10-12 English teachers. Each student will have many opportunities to practice speaking English and receive helpful feedback & tips to improve their skills in a small group setting.

This class is sponsored by IGSM (International Graduate Student Ministry, www.igsmonline.org), a UC Berkeley campus student group.

Fee: A nominal fee of $20 will be collected to cover the printing costs for the course material and also for refreshments.
