Donate to 30 Hour Famine

As you all know IGSM is participating in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine, which is
a fundraiser drive that fights hunger and poverty for children worldwide.  We will go without food for 30 hours and be hungry for the hungry children.

We will not eat from 12am on 6/26 to 6am on 6/27.  In addition, we will hold a yard sale this Saturday to raise more money toward this cause on the day of the fast.  However, your sponsorship would be greatly appreciated.  The deadline for fundraising is soon coming to an end (6/30), so support us in this fundraising efforts.

You can sponsor us for $1/hr, $30 total.  Or, you can support us however much you can spare, every dollar helps! On world average, $30 can help feed and care for a hungry child for a month.  We are trying to raise $5000 within IGSM through this effort.

30 Hour Famine 2010 (updated)

June 26, 2010 12:00 amtoJune 27, 2010 6:00 am

What is the 30 Hour Famine? The 30 Hour Famine is a World Vision program that allows people to make a significant impact on the problem of world hunger while growing closer to God and to each other. By pledging to go without food for 30 hours, participants not only raise money to help feed and care for children worldwide, but also gain an understanding of how it feels to experience hunger.

I made the following video to demonstrate how to ask for sponsorship. (It was done in two takes, so please pardon that I forgot my lines in the middle.) If you have any encouraging stories or tips about asking for sponsorship, please share them as comments below. It can be helpful for all of us to learn.

On the day of the fasting (6/26), we will use the extra time that we get from not eating our meals to raise extra money for 30 Hour Famine as a group via yard sale, bake sale, and making balloon animals.
