For a special birthday celebration, some of the sisters went to
Napa to go to the hot springs, but it was too crowded so we ventured over to the Petrified Forest. The forest is made up of special trees that turned to rock. The trees became covered with volcanic ash and the chemicals in the ash leached into the tree replacing the natural cell material to turn it to rock… ok, enough nerding out. It was pretty cool to see such large trees turned to rock. It was a petrifying experience (pun intended) to be in the presence of such large trees and we all tried to look petrified in this picture. After the short hike, we ate an early dinner and went to a winery to enjoy the scenery and get some dessert. What would a sisters trip be without pictures of flowers and with flowers.
oh man! Check out the petrified look on May and Sam’s faces!
