For the third part of the Connect series, we filled up 110 Barrows Hall, the room we will use for the rest of the semester. I was personally very surprised to see the hallway outside filled with people, pizza, and conversation- and all before 6:30pm. We started by watching our first video about Peter and the lab experiment and then an awesome video about a grad students fluctuating self-worth as he interacts and compares himself with the people around him. Dr. Chul Kim gave a message along the same lines about how we view people in our lives. You can listen to it here:
After announcements we loaded up into cars to go to the 3 Bridge Tour of SF. We headed to Battery Park in Marin County to see the Golden Gate Bridge. It was covered with fog and at the brief time we were there we were also covered with fog. Howling winds of many miles per hour and pitch black darkness made for some interesting pictures. We quickly got back to our warm cars and headed to Ghirardelli for ice cream. It was packed and we also ran into some of our classmates. We ended the night with lots of pictures, some taken by major. Based on the gender differences, can you guess which picture is of which major- social sciences, engineering, and optometry?

It was indeed very windy and foggy. I remember praying along with several brave brothers inside the trench of the battery park – it was early saturday morning. Hope that we will have more brothers and sisters taking interest in praying now that we are starting our Bible study this Friday for graduate students at UC Berkeley, UCSF, and other schools.
At the Battery Park, I witnessed a moment of collective insanity, as people started screaming after they got out of their cars. It was absolutely crazy with the wind, fog and coldness. But it was very memorable.
The “Earthquake” in Ghirardelli Square truly rocks!
Oh you guys had so much fun at SF!! I really wish I was there! I heard about the craziness at Battery Park! haha… must be very memorable!
Sharing the Earthquake with 6 people is a rather easy challenge (not to mention healthier and cheaper)! It was a good time all around.
Like Shufei said, the “Earthquake” truly does rock, but the people in my car did not tremble before it.
quite the contrary, we four guys finished all that ice cream goodness in about 10 minutes without a problem.
jtarn, what you guys did may not be a “ground-breaking” or “earth-shattering” news, but considering our age, that’s actually kind of “shocking” to me. i guess you guys were not “shaken” by the Earthquake.
