This past Sunday, we had our Thanksgiving Celebration with the entire Gracepoint Church. “TC” featured several performances by our ministry groups, one of which was IGSM’s “So You Think You Can Thank?”

After all the fun, embarrassment, and laughter, we celebrated with a traditional homemade Thanksgiving dinner: turkey, turkey stuffing, cranberry jam, corn, cornbread, mashed potatoes, and delicious sweets!

Special Talk by Professor Inkang Kim

IMG 9834 cond e1318464212990 Special Talk by Professor Inkang Kim

Join us this Friday for a special talk by Professor Inkang Kim! The talk will focus on the view of the last day as seen from the end of history. It will be at 110 Barrows, beginning at 6:30 pm with dinner, followed by ice cream sundaes for dessert.

This Friday, we are excited to have Prof. InKang Kim, who is visiting Berkeley from Korea, join us to give a special talk about his spiritual conversation experience! Profesor Kim is now one of the most prominent mathematicians in Korea whose work has been internationally recognized. He got his Ph.D in Mathematics at Berkeley in 1996, and was actively involved in ministry from 1992 to 1995 as a Ph.D student in Berkeley. He is currently a professor at KIAS (Korea Institute for advanced study), and used to be a professor at KAIST and Seoul National University.

His past life had been one of many struggles and disappointments, but also one of hope. He had polio at the age of three and completely lost mobility to his legs, for which he was denied access to elementary school. Due to his serious physical handicap, he grew up in an orphanage house during his elementary school days with sadness and much bitterness towards God. His life made a rather unexpected turn when he met a teacher who really encouraged him to go to middle school. From that point, he began to look at his life differently, which led him to understand the love of God deeply during his college days, finally becoming a Christian in his sophomore year. His story has been published in the book, “Joy Equation”, which has blessed the lives of many people.

This friday, he is going to talk about his past experiences based on the Bible text of John 9:3-5. He will talk about how he changed from someone with cold bitterness and dark cynicism about his life and its Creator, to someone with deep joy and gratitude towards God and His love. If you are interested, please come join us to hear this exciting talk by Professor Kim!

Baptism

IMG 0600 1024x686 Baptism

On Sunday, we witnessed the baptism of Bo and 11 other brothers and sisters at our church.

As we heard the testimonies of Bo, Jenny, and Amanda, it is so evident that God transforms lives, allowing us to die to the old life of sin (going under water) and enter into a new life with Jesus Christ (rising from the water).
